Shane prior to rehab in 2013

I thought I had it under control. I never went to jail, I never got a DUI. I could do a lot of drugs and drink a lot of alcohol and for the most part you wouldn’t even know that I was jacked up. It was an easy way for me to justify what I was doing for all those years. The biggest thing about addiction is the denial that you have actually have a problem. When I watched my best friend almost die in a car accident and spend 53 days in a coma, I knew something had to change, but I still didn't stop. It wasn't until rehab and a chance encounter with a dog and a beat up bible laying in the middle of the road that God spoke to me and put me on a path to changing my life. I want people to know that there's help out there. I'm on a mission to encourage and show that change is possible. God has given me a voice to spread the word of recovery, and I intend to spread that message one day at a time.

About That Sober Guy

I was 6 months out of rehab in early 2014. I literally sat up in bed one night and had a crazy idea. I would start a podcast and share my story. I would talk to others in recovery and in the process maybe help a few people who were struggling. Within 30 days That Sober Guy Podcast was born. I started putting out weekly episodes and slowly watched the platform grow. Today, That Sober Guy reaches tens of thousands of listeners across states and continents who seek recovery from addiction. With nearly one million downloads, That Sober Guy is one of the leaders in the recovery podcast space and dedicated to helping others get sober and stay so
